About the show

She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

The duration of the show is approximately 2.5 hours incl. intermission.

Not recommended for young children. Content and trigger warnings include: violence, sexual references, off-stage death of family members, disability representation and offensive language.

Meet the Team

Anna Murton

DIRECTOR
Anna Murton has chalked up over 35 years (yikes!) of theatre experience as an actor, director, playwright, clown, clown and commedia trainer, drama teacher and most recently, a musical theatre ‘old broad’.
Before moving to the Netherlands in 2000, Anna was co-founder and artistic director of Tubthumping Theatre School & Youth Theatre and taught clowning at the Guildford School of Acting. She also worked as a freelance director and performance clown.
In the Netherlands, she has worked in a variety of capacities with (a.o) The Global Clown School, Teatro Munganga and ArtEZ and Teatro Triori.
For 15 years, Anna has been a drama/theatre teacher at the International School Hilversum where she has done her best to infect her students with a passion for all things theatrical and where she writes and directs the primary and middle-school productions. In the past year, Anna has been seen back onstage in HEA Productions’ Avenue Q (Lucy the Slut) and Chicago (Mama Morton).
Anna feels immensely blessed and is super pumped to start working with The Cauldron on Qui Nguyen’s She Kills Monsters
Niamh Merritt

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Niamh has been performing from a young age, acting in several local plays and competing in regional performance competitions. She gained Distinction in her LAMDA Grade 8 Acting at 18, and later ran the Theatre Society at her university. An avid theatre goer and enthusiast with a recently discovered passion for directing, she is delighted to have the opportunity to assistant direct She Kills Monsters for The Cauldron and dive into the English-language theatre scene.
Fran Pope

STAGE MANAGER

Fran is a PhD candidate in chemistry who came to the Netherlands from the UK for her studies. She has enjoyed taking part in theatre throughout her life, both on and off stage. Now joining the theatre scene in Amsterdam, she's eager to work in stage production and excited to work on her first show with The Cauldron, She Kills Monsters.
M MONTEIRO

PRODUCTION LEAD
A portuguese singer-songwriter, M moved to The Netherlands in 2021 and so far is having the time of her life! She's just rediscovered the joys of theatre and most recently has been part of The Cauldron's Monstersongs (Monster Daddy) and The Addam Family (Pugsley), HEA's Be More Chill (Michael) . During her day to day, she works in media and advertising for a sports company, making the most out of her love for women's sports.
Jitske Kingma

ASSISTANT PRODUCTION LEAD
As a day job, Jitske works as a special educational needs coordinator at a Jewish primary school. Her passion is musical theatre and she loves to be part of the Cauldron. As a child and teenager, Jitske played in different professional productions and dabbled in voice acting. Her coolest achievement is being on Netflix with the movie Barbie en de prinsessen school. Jitske trained in musical theatre at Musicallfactory.
Jitske lives in Amsterdam with her soon-to-be husband and two cats. After muitilple years outside the musical theatre scene, she is very excited to jump back in and be the production lead of She Kills Monsters.
