Meet the team
Director, Kat
Kat Carson is an English singer based in the Netherlands. She specialises in Classical and Early music, and has worked extensively in the UK and the Netherlands. As a performer, Kat focuses on ensemble work and innovation; she is the founder of ensemble Nymphes et Monsters, who create large scale interdisciplinary projects. Above all, Kat values audience engagement in her performances, and brings passion and excitement to all of her work.
Kat's previous teaching and conducting positions include the St Pancras Schola Cantorum in Lewes, UK, and teacher/vocal coach for B!Music school and the Wazzup Singers in Amsterdam.
She is the founder of Stichting the Cauldron, current director of the Eurokoor in Leiden, and teaches out of her studio at Parlour, in de Pijp. She is excited to be starting a new initiative in The Cauldron Choir of Amsterdam, and can't wait to bring more choral singing (especially of showtunes!) to the Amsterdam community.
Assistant Director, Rosemary
Rosemary Lloyd has been performing in musical theatre for almost 20 years. She is a versatile performer with experience in musical theatre, classical singing, and stage production. She has portrayed roles such as Rose Fenny in Dogfight, Di in Di and Viv and Rose, and Maggie Winslow in A Chorus Line.
She has received extensive vocal training, including classical voice studies with Monique Simon at the Conservatoire de Luxembourg and coaching with Anna Langner. In addition to performing, Rosemary has worked backstage in makeup, costuming, and stagehand roles.
She is delighted to be working on the Cauldron Choir and looks forward to bringing music to life with such a talented group.
Choir Coordinator, Jack
Jack Engelbrecht would like to be specialized in everything. What? ADHD? …No. He graduated from BEAR (even fancier fine art) with conceptual art exploring the catharsis that occurs when an audience member maps their emotionality onto the outside experiences and identity of fictional characters. Since then he has re-focused on writing his own stories so as to be able to enrapt the audience himself. To help deal with the semi-permanent writers block he’s active in the improv scene in Amsterdam; founding the improv troupe ‘the gang of parrots’ and teaching improv to young autistics at Interacting.
After moving on from coordinating the Parrots improv team, (and in addition to taping most Cauldron shows), he’s now the new coordinator for the Cauldron choir.
Accompianist, Carles
Carles Miquel (born in 1996, in Catalunya) is a pianist with a diverse musical background. He began learning piano at age six and later pursued a Bachelor of Music at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona. During his final year, he participated in an international exchange program at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he expanded his studies beyond classical music, delving into Jazz, Pop, and diverse world music traditions. He graduated in 2022. Following his studies, he spent a year teaching and working as an accompanist at a conservatory in Barcelona before starting his Master of Music at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in 2023, under the guidance of Ellen Corver. Alongside his studies, he is the pianist for the Eurokoor choir and teaches piano at a music school in The Hague. He is also a member of Trio Sambori, a classical music ensemble. He is now thrilled to be the pianist for The Cauldron Choir of Amsterdam!
